Celebrating the life of
Betty Hamilton Furlong
February 02, 1958 - June 03, 2026
Betty Hamilton Furlong was a bright light in the lives of everyone who knew her. She brought joy, laughter, and warmth wherever she went, leaving an unforgettable mark on family, friends, clients, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born with a vibrant spirit and a gift for making others feel welcome, Betty lived life with enthusiasm and grace. She was full of happiness, always finding reasons to celebrate, laugh, and bring people together. Whether through a kind word, a contagious smile and laugh, or her unmistakable sense of style, Betty had a way of brightening every room she entered.
One of Betty's many proud accomplishments was graduating early from the Academy of Richmond County in Augusta, Georgia, in 1975. During her high school years, she formed friendships that would become some of the most cherished relationships of her life; friendships that turn into family. She often spoke fondly of that special group of friends and the countless memories they created together that would last a lifetime. Soon after graduating, Betty attended Armstrong University to pursue her passion in architecture and interior design. Through every stage of life, those friendships remained a source of joy, comfort, and treasured memories.
Betty's creativity and passion found their fullest expression in interior design and architecture, fields she truly loved. Through her business, Dyson Hamilton Interior Design, she transformed houses into homes and ideas into reality. For Betty, design was never simply about colors, furnishings, or floor plans, it was about people. She had a remarkable ability to listen, understand a vision, and bring dreams to life in ways that exceeded expectations. She approached every project with imagination, dedication, and an eye for beauty, creating spaces that reflected the personalities and aspirations of those who would live in them.
Her work was not just a career; it was a calling. Betty loved the creative process, from envisioning possibilities to seeing a finished space come together. She found genuine joy in helping others create environments where memories would be made and lives would unfold. The relationships she built with clients often became lasting friendships, a reflection of the care and heart she poured into everything she did.
Above all, Betty understood the value of connection. She nurtured friendships with care, loved deeply, and always made time for the people who mattered most. Her presence made ordinary moments feel special, and her ability to bring comfort, encouragement, and happiness to others was one of her greatest gifts.
Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the beautiful spaces she created, and the memories she helped shape. She will be remembered for her kindness, her vibrant spirit, her creativity, her loyalty to friends and family, and the joy she shared so freely with others.
Betty's life was a beautiful reminder that the brightest lights are often those who shine for others. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

Betty and I had long talks about Savannah history, its architecture and design. She was a treasure trove of information and remembrances I enjoyed hearing. The one thought I was always left with was that Betty loved Danny. Rest in Peace.

The few years my husband Ger and I passed through the Lafayette were filled with wonderful friendships and beautiful memories. Danny and Betty were indeed both “givers of life”, whether sitting under the entrance awning after 5 for a cocktail or hanging out with the Roof Deck Club talking boating adventures. Ger and I will be praying for Danny and the family now as they grieve this time of such an unexpected loss. A shock indeed! Praying for divine strength and peace, praying for great comfort and acceptance, praying for faith in the assurance that Betty is in the arms of Jesus...no more pain or sorrow for our sweet red rimmed friend. That's how I always see her...behind those funky glasses:) May we all leave here with so much love and grace remembered.
